Training Philosophy

Since 1978, JROB Wrestling Camps has trained more than 45,000 wrestlers with a philosophy that focuses on physical preparation, technical skill, mental toughness, and life skills. By challenging athletes to overcome physical fatigue and mental stress every day, JROB is the spark that accelerates their personal and athletic development. The work ethic, discipline, and mindset of achievement taught at camp become a part of their core, propelling them toward immediate and long-term success on the mat, in the classroom, and in life. JROB is the only wrestling camp that emphasizes the development of life skills as a key part of the curriculum, so wrestlers leave camp with the confidence that they can have a greater impact on the world than they ever thought possible.

In 2019, 111 former JROB wrestlers won state championships and another 551 won state medals. Make plans now to attend in 2020 and find your path to the podium. Sign up to receive a notification email when 2020 registration opens.

Intensive Camps

The training model of JROB Intensive Camps operates on the principle that intense challenges bring about life-changing growth. The training and conduct expectations at camp are influenced by camp founder J Robinson's experience as an Army Ranger and by the protocol of Army Ranger School, which focuses on both physical and mental development. JROB immerses athletes in a structured, accountable environment that challenges them to push their limits and to discover their untapped potential. The J7 training philosophy—Discipline, Dedication, Sacrifice, Hard Work, Responsibility, Accountability, and Service—guides each activity at our Intensive Camps. Practicing these positive character traits in the context of sport empowers wrestlers to build a foundation for success that lasts a lifetime.

Locations in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Oregon.

Competition Camps

The singular goal of JROB Competition Camps is to make each wrestler into a more fierce competitor. Wrestlers will get a minimum of eight full-length, refereed matches within a weight-based bracket, as well as two daily technique sessions and daily lessons on the four principles of competition: preparation, performance, evaluation, and adjustments. After each match, wrestlers receive one-on-one feedback from our clinicians, allowing them to receive valuable feedback and instruction from some of the nation’s best teachers and college wrestlers.

Locations in Atlanta, GARiver Falls, WI, and Chico, CA.

Technique Camps

Featuring a high-profile slate of national and regional staff at each camp, JROB Technique Camps emphasize technical skill development and strategy. Our curriculum covers everything from basic fundamentals—stance, positioning, takedowns, and escapes—to advanced technique and strategy, including set-ups, finishes, and drilling. We separate wrestlers into small groups determined by age, weight and ability, so each wrestler will receive a level of training that fits his or her skill and experience level. The philosophy of our Technique Camps also relies on teaching a disciplined, focused mindset that is the trademark of all JROB Wrestling Camps.

Locations in Georgia, Texas, Wisconsin, California, and Washington.

The film chronicles multiple stages of Robinson’s life, examining how his experiences led to the creation and development of the wrestling camps known as one of the most challenging athletic camps in the country, JROB Intensive Wrestling Camps.
