Pam Bowden - Girls Intensive Camp Director
Pam Bowden has 25 years of basketball experience as a player, coach and administrator. She has worked as a head coach, assistant coach and administrative assistant at NAIA, NCAA Division I and II programs.
In December of 2000, Pam joined the Syracuse University Women’s Basketball staff as administrative assistant to Marianna Freeman and was promoted as an assistant coach in 2002. Pam was responsible for coordinating and directing the SU Girls Basketball Camp, organizing community projects for the coaching staff and players, serving as the liaison to the compliance and academic support staff, and coordinating team travel. Her coaching responsibilities included recruiting, scouting, and working with the guards. She assisted with the Orangewomen’s 2001-2002 NCAA Appearance and Top 15 Recruiting Class.
Bowden served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Indiana University Purdue University-Fort Wayne from 1994-1999. She directed all aspects of a women’s basketball program that made an NCAA tournament appearance and achieved national ranking. Her teams established several school records that still stand: season record (23-5), season win percentage (82%), most free throws (604), free throw percentage (76.7%) and assists (551). While at IPFW, Bowden coached nine athletes who received all-conference academic honors. She coached a two-time Kodak All-American Honorable Mention who was the national scoring leader and Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year. Her team was the National Division II team free throw champion with 76.7%.
As an assistant at the University of Alaska Anchorage from 1990-1994, Bowden helped lead the Seawolves to their best overall record, 21-7 in 1990-91 and the school’s first ever NCAA post-season appearances in 1991-92 and 1992-93. She was an assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Marist College from 1988 -1990 and at Spring Arbor University from 1985 – 1988. While coaching at Spring Arbor Bowden helped lead the team to the 1986 NCCAA National Basketball Championship. As a player, she helped the 1983 team to the NCCAA National Basketball Championship, and was selected to the NCCAA National All-Tournament team.
Bowden is a native of Saginaw, Michigan and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Spring Arbor University in 1985. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in sports administration and coaching from Western Michigan University in 1988. She currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska.
