Competition Camps

We now offer three Competition Camp locations each summer in Atlanta, GA, River Falls, WI, and Chico, CA. Our singular goal is to make each wrestler into a more fierce competitor. Wrestlers will get a minimum of 8 full-length, refereed matches within a weight-based bracket, as well as two daily technique sessions and daily lessons on the 4 principles of competition: preparation, performance, evaluation, and adjustment. After each match, wrestlers receive one-on-one feedback from one of our instructors, allowing them to receive valuable feedback from some of the nation’s best coaches.

In 2018, each Competition Camp will feature a wrestler or coach from Team USA who will lead the campers through a rules session and live matches in both Olympic disciplines, Greco-Roman (GR) and Freestyle. In 2017, our featured guests were 2012 GR and Freestyle Olympian Sam Hazewinkel, Team USA Freestyle Manager Joe Russell, and 2017 GR U.S. Open Champion Pat Smith.

The Competition Camps are not team camps. At a team camp, wrestlers end up wrestling the same competition that they’ve seen during the year, and in many cases, teammates that they wrestle every day. At a JROB Competition Camp, campers are able to wrestle against opponents from across the country who they don’t know and have never wrestled before. That kind of training is much more valuable than a traditional team camp. Competition Camps are open to boys in or entering grades 7-12.
